Why I’m Running

For Atlanta City Council

My name is Liliana Bakhtiari, and I'm a longtime Southeast Atlanta homeowner, proven problem solver, committed community activist, and the daughter of immigrants. I'm running for City Council because for too long we have watched our friends and neighbors lose their homes due to predatory financial services and a lack of affordable housing in Atlanta. For too long we have seen our unsheltered populations get too little consideration and too few support programs. We have seen our seniors forgotten and unsupported, with new infrastructure making it more difficult to get to the store and the doctor's office.

I'm running to change all of that.

Atlanta

District 5

Our neighborhoods include Downtown, Fourth and Sand, Central Atlanta Neighbors, Old Fourth Ward, Sweet Auburn, Fourth Ward West, Cabbagetown, Reynoldstown, Edgewood, Kirkwood, East Atlanta, Lake Claire, East Lake, North Ormewood, Glenwood Park, and North Grant Park. We are the birthplace of the civil rights movement. We are the home to local and small, eclectic businesses that held us up during the recession, and grassroots arts movements. My partner and I know that District 5 is the best community in Atlanta, and with your help, we will continue to make it even better.
